60 Years of Neighborhood Service!

Situated in a tightly knit Lincoln Park community at 425 W Armitage is The River Shannon. All of the regulars at this pub share one thing: none of them can remember The River Shannon ever not being there. Indeed most of The River Shannon’s 21-35 year old crowd wasn’t even alive when the Champagne bottle was broken across the pillar at her front door. That event was when Harry Truman was our president, Dr. Spock published his first baby book, and the baby boom generation (most of the regular’s parents!) were waiting in queue.

Recently Chris Ryan (River Shannon’s own Indiana Jones) was looking through the relics in the basement of the bar when he came across some pictures just strewn on the floor. “After taking a close look, I knew that they [the pictures] should be saved, they were obviously quite old.” Mr. Ryan offered. “As I researched the pictures I found they were taken on opening day of The River Shannon Inn [the original name] in 1946!  I saw an image of a man shooting a film in one picture, using what appears to be a Devry Home Movie Camera Nr.77. We want that film, and are offering $1946 dollars to get it! We chose that amount in honor of the year she opened of course.”
